The start of something beautiful?

I am having a minor celebration because last night our little girl Emily slept a 12 hour stretch for the first time, 6:30pm - 6:30am. Yay! She is 9 weeks old (as of yesterday) and is doing very well. Here is are a couple of pictures from post feed this morning:

Who knows if she'll repeat this feat any time soon or if it will be a while yet? Here's hoping...

So... I clicked "Follow blog." And now I am. Everything in me is so tempted to click the "Stop following" link just to prove a point... Can you see my dilemma?

Anyways, Emily is stunning! I am so glad that I get to watch your little blessing grow week after week!

Ah well, I have to agree with you all. I mean, I am completely aware that I am terribly biased and perhaps can't be seen as having an objective opinion on the topic of our little girl, but I honestly think that she is objectively very cute and beautiful, which I don't always think about children and babies.

However, I still don't go with the "does she melt your heart?" cheesy crap that people occasionally throw my way - that still makes me want to retch. But she is very cool, and definitely at the top of the priority list. I do wonder how i'll respond if she turns out to like cheesy middle of the road pop music and has terrible taste in cinema years down the track...pays not to think thoughts like that too often ;-)

God had certainly blessed us with a good bubba.

PS: Rachel, I once said at a cession|core leaders meeting that truly following the example of Jesus is really difficult so people should just try and follow me instead and they'd be halfway there... clearly not many people took up the challenge, but now you have - in a virtual sense at least. Well done. ;-P

PPS: Didn't Brett just post about humility?

Ok, so my Welsh is pretty non-existent and after doing a little exploring of free mechanical online Welsh translator sites the best I could come up with is "et warm"?!? So what exactly does cyfarchion cynnes translate to in English?

I would love to visit Wales sometime (though admittedly that is true of a large variety of nations!) and my Father's father was Welsh, but he died before I was born so I never got the chance to meet him or connect with that side of my heritage. My father grew up in a Māori family/cultural setting (New Zealand's indigenous or first nations ethnic group) as his mum was Māori though she also died before I was born. I do have some friends who grew up in Merthyr Tydfil though...

Māori and Welsh also share a point of connection in that both cultures and languages have experienced significant 'revivals' after barely failed attempts to suppress them.

Cyfarchion is greetings - cynnes is warm. Put them together and you get Greetings warm or in more proper English - warm greetings.

Māori and Welsh people also love rugby and singing, both excellent passtimes.

Some of best friends are Māori.
